Michael “Huero” Bukovec was born in Cleveland, OH and moved with his mother to Los Angeles shortly after. With a love for drawing and comic books as a child he was hugely influenced by the art of his new surroundings. From the bright colors and wild styles of the graffiti writers to the bold lines and swirls of the neighborhood hand styles, Los Angeles it self has been the biggest influence on his artwork. After years of running through the streets of many different Southern California cities and a few unexpected vacations, Huero with hopes of finding a way to channel creativity and produce a positive outcome for his life made the move into tattooing. In the East L.A. community of Boyle Heights, Huero began to learn to tattoo along side a good friend “Bear” who had been tattooing for many years. After bouncing around between a few shops from Los Angeles to the San Fernando Valley, Huero opened a shop with friend and fellow tattooer “Ruger” in Los Angeles in 2010. Since then he has made the move into working more privately in a studio off of Fairfax Ave in Los Angeles, alongside artists such as Norm, Big Sleeps, Jeff Page, Boog, Eric Dressen and a few other very talented tattooers. Huero is refining his skills and trying to push the lines of creativity in his lettering. With the release of his tattoo script lettering reference book “The Manuscript” in 2013 Huero hopes to solidify himself in his industry as a name that is synonymous with creativity and quality and looks forward to further developing his craft as he pushes himself to do so daily and is constantly inspired and motivated by the artist he works with and has worked with over the past 7 years.
