Artist Jamie Schene was born San Bernardino California in 1971. Jamie was always into drawing, but it wasn't until he got his first tattoo at the age of 17 that he started drawing designs for his friends to get tattooed. He then started tattooing punk rock musicians, skateboarders and friends in the scene.
A few years later, in 1992, Jamie served a year apprenticeship for Mark Mahoney at Mayhem Tattoo in Hollywood. He quickly discovered his love for Color and Black and Grey Realism.
"My tattoo style is epic scale realism rooted in traditional. I really like to focus on bold pieces that flow with and enhance the area of the body."
After the apprenticeship Jamie worked at Ignition Tattoo and his own private studio for a few years before joining the team at Black Anchor Collective in 2012
"I was ready to start working in a shop environment again so it worked out perfectly with Black Anchor."
Through the years Jamie has been inspired by many fellow artists such as Mark Mahoney, Philip Leu , Eddy Deutsche, Kore Flatmo, Marcus Pacheco, Shawn Barber, Nikko Hurtado and everyone at Black Anchor Collective just to name a few.
In addition to tattooing, Jamie has never stopped pursuing his love for drawing and painting. He enjoys painting subject matter that reflects what is going on in his life. His paintings are heavily influenced by his tattooing and vice versa.
When he does not have a machine or paint brush in his hand he loves collecting vintage skateboards and exploring the world with his wife and son.
